When you’re fully immersed in winter, don”t let attendance suffer at your events because of the FLU!
Know flu prevention and don’t let it terrorize your events. With the help of the CDC website, here are 4 ways practice good flu prevention and also do your small humanitarian part for your colleagues and attendees:
- Blog about flu prevention - As a corporate social responsibility memo, write a brief post on your event blog about flu prevention such as “avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Germs spread this way” and “Wash your hands often with soap and water.” (CDC website)
- Protect your committee - encourage your board, steering committee and volunteers to all get their flu shot. The CDC recommends a yearly flu vaccine as the first and foremost step in protecting again flu viruses. This is also reassuring to know your helping hands won’t be out with a overwhelming temperature.
- Don’t be silly – if you do have flu like symptoms, stay home for 24 hours at least after your fever is gone to get medical care and limit contact with others as much as possible. Being so hands-on, no matter the event isn’t worth exposing everyone else.
- Ask for hand sanitizers – ARAMARK is a huge advocate of safety and protecting employees. At NCC, we have solo hand-sanitizer stands around the bathrooms, break stations and dining room. Request your venue for a hand sanitizing station to be placed in public space near your meeting rooms.
What other ways would you suggest promoting flu prevention?
How has safety approaches such as these worked or not worked for your past events?

Really useful appreciate it, I do think your followers may well want far more posts similar to this maintain the great hard work.
I think I got the flew twice last year from events. Tough to prevent people from going to events when sick….maybe planners can have a policy….sick? Prove it, stay home…we will refund your conference fees or credit them for next year
